THE A.C. RAILBUS : A SHORT DESCRIPTION


Loading Dimensions:

Seating:
Seating is arranged in two saloons, one on each side of the cross-centre vestibule. Seats are of the fixed type and in each saloon face forwards towards the ends of the car. Upholstery is of uncut moquette with plastic panels on rubber foam bases.

Luggage Racks:
Racks for small hand luggage are provided along the sides of each saloon.

Doors and Vestibule:
Power-operated sliding doors under the control of the driver are situated centrally on each side of the car. The vestibule is divided from the saloons by partitions which are panelled to waist height and glazed above.

Lighting, Heating and Ventilation:
The saloon lights are spaced to illuminate the whole area of the car, particularly at the doorways. A heating unit, mounted on the underframe, supplies warm air which is fed into the car at a number of points beneath the seats. Ventilation is by means of four air extraction units fitted to the roof of the vehicle.

Power Unit and Driving Controls:
The railbus is powered by a British United Traction 150 h.p., 6-cylinder horizontal diesel engine. Driving controls are situation at each end of the car.

Destination Indicators:
Roller type destination indicators are provided at each end of the car in a box formed by the shaping of the roof and ceiling panels.
