303.  BURY - BACUP SCHEME.

Noted it has now been agreed for the first 14 vehicles of the 72 ordered from Metro-Cammell to be allocated to this scheme and Mr.Randle has been requested to obtain dates of delivery.

See Minute No.296 re servicing and maintenance.

304.  BIRMINGHAM - SUTTON COLDFIELD - LICHFIELD LINE

(a)  The Committee inspected Monument Lane carriage shed in connection with the servicing and maintenance arrangements. (See Minute No.296).

(b)  During the Committee's visit to the stations on this line the Chairman called attention to the following -

(i)  Steel girder frame of canopy at Lichfield City to be removed. The Chairman said that instructions had been given two years ago for this work to be carried out and it should be done without further delay. Mr.Butland to report.

(ii)  Low platorms at Sutton Coldfield and Blake St. - Mr.Butland to look into having regard to introduction of diesel service.

305.  BIRMINGHAM - CASTLE BROMWICH (B.I.F.) SCHEME.

  (i)  Noted that arrangements have been made for three 2-car units to be included in this service from 2nd May to 13th May and the units were sent to Birmingham on April 18th.

 (ii)  Mr.Tonge stated that at the meeting of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce on the 15th March it had been explained why the units for the B.I.F. could not remain on the regular service and the Chamber of Commerce were quite satisfied.

(iii)  Press representatives will have a special trip in a unit between Birmingham and Castle Bromwich on April 29th.

306.  NORTH WALES SCHEME.

See Minute No.296 re servicing and maintenance.

307.  CAMBRIDGE SCHEME (L.M. & E.R.)

The Chairman said that a joint report from the Officers of the L.M. and E. Regions is still awaited and Mr.Gould said they are still waiting for the E.R. Chairman will speak to the Assistant General Manager of the Eastern Region.
