496   GENERAL MATTERS OF POLICY

1.  Minutes of meeting of 16th January, 1957

Agreed.

2.  Programme of Light Weight Diesel operation over next five years

Noted that the following broad allocation of 1,000 vehicles has been given to the B.T.C.

Type Motor Cars. Trailers. Total
  A3. B1. B2.
Cross Country 57' 390 70 315 775
Inter-City 63'6"       85
Suburban 63'6"       140
        1,000

The question was raised as to whether any 'D' type intermediate trailers for 3-car sets would be required in the 775 57' vehicles and Mr.Gould explained that for future schemes it was felt desireable to restrict the stock to 2-car sets, owing to their greater availability.  It was appreciated that the above figures are only a broad allocation and the requirements will be adjusted as necessary as future schemes are developed.
