Largs station in 1986. The tracks on the right are out of use, on the left is a Class 116 / 107 hybrid, the DMBS being 53090 labelled as set 385. Corriebob.
Railtour. Looking west as BLS Railtour crawls round to Old Kilpatrick. The leading Set is a Class 120 with MC centre car whilst Set 385 on the rear is a Class 116 including a 120 DMS. The line stopped short of the Caledonian station (closed in 1964) in advance of the Erskine Bridge seen in the background. Completed in 1971 the Bridge replaced the Erskine Ferry for which the CR station would have been well placed. The North British station at Kilpatrick was to the north of the village. The oil refinery was rail served (just visible to the left) but traffic probably ceased round about the late 70's and the adjacent Admiralty siding probably some time long before that. Saturday 23 August 1986. alicia hartman.
Railtour. Looking west between Dalmuir Riverside and Old Kilpatrick on Caledonian L & D as BLS six car DMU with Sc53090 leading returns to the (North British) mainline at Clydebank Central Junction. The Chivas Regal blending plant and bonded warehouses on the left were rail served (behind camera) but traffic was probably on its way out by this time. Whisky container tanks and VDAs were propelled back to Dalmuir Riverside for rounding before returning to Elgin / Keith via Mossend. The Erskine Bridge is visible against the skyline in the distance. Saturday 23 August 1986. alicia hartman.
Railtour. Looking west as six car BLS DMU pauses on the Caledonian L & D overbridge spanning Dumbarton Road in Clydebank. The traincrew have been talking to the signalman at Clydebank Dock Junction (actually in Yoker) before getting the road to the mainline at Clydebank Central Junction. The line to the right is a steeply graded BRB connection put in during the mid 70s from the CR line to the NB line below (forming Clydebank Central Junction). This allowed closure of the parallel CR line from here to Scotstoun West. Saturday 23 August 1986. alicia hartman.
The Branch Line Society "The Clyde Forth" railtour on 23 August 1986. This is thought to be taken at Hawkhead, which was the first stop after the departure from Glasgow. Class 116 DMBS 53090 is closest. Brian Ward.

53090 on the end of the Branch Line Society "The Clyde Forth" railtour at Old Kilpatrick on 23 August 1986, the Erskine Bridge seen above. There was once an Arnott Young breakers yard near here that cut up some DMUs. Brian Ward.

Class 116 set 385 is seen at Kilwinning with a Met-Camm center car, circa late 1986. 53132 leads, presumably with 59121 and 53839. Andrew McConnell.
Class 108 DMSl 53643 hides behind 08 620 at Stirling on 11 August 1988. Andrew Malloy.
Set 385, led by Class 108 51925 (and presumably with 59710 + 53643) arrived into Broughty Ferry on September 29th, 1988. John Carter.
53643 at Perth on September 29, 1988, presumably working with 59710 + 51925. John Carter.
