An Inter-City Swindon-built DMU at Southall. There are three cabs in the formation facing forward, it contains a three-car (L708), a single power car, and another three-car. A suburban set can be seen in the distance on the left. Date unknown, probably early 1970s. Stuart Mackay Collection.
A London Midland Region publicity image (negative D3410/4) showing a Swindon Inter-City DMU in Whitchurch station circa May 1976 - the month they began on Cardiff-Crewe services. There are two sets, L708 being a three-car. British Rail.
A Swindon Inter-City Class 123 DMU (set L708) in Reading General station circa early/mid-1970s. John Horne Collection.
L708 at Gospel Oak on 29/6/91, having worked the 14.30 from Barking and returning at 15.30. Closest is Class 119 DMSL 51103, probably paired with Class 104 DMBS 53437. David Miller.
L708 at Gospel Oak on 29/6/91, arriving on the 14.30 from Barking. From comments relating to the vehicle at the other end of this set, I conclude that the one in view is class 104 53437. David Miller.
Class 119 DMS 51103 stabled in St Pancras in between Gospel Oak - Barking duties on 28 July 1991. Dave Warby.
Class 117 DMU set L708 (with an upside down 8) - presumably 51336 + 51378 - alongside 158 819 at Par on 21 September 1994. Image taken by John Vaughan. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 117 (51336 + 51378) and Class 101 DMUs at St Ives on 1 August 1995. David Mant.
At, in my opinion, the most beautiful places one could find a railcar 51336 of set 117708 (presumably with 51378) leads a class 117 and 101 (101842, presumably 53314 + 53327) combination on the St. Ives branch near Carbis Bay on 4th August 1995. Ian Buck.
Leaving St Erth for St Ives is 51378 on the rear of set L708, presumably with 51336. At the front is Class 101 set 101842 (presumably 53314 + 53327). Ian Buck.
At Penzance after a day on the St Ives branch set L708 (51378 and presumably 51336) and 101842 (presumably 53314 + 53327) on 4th April 1995. Ian Buck.
51378 is out of service at Bletchley Depot on 14th April 1999. Ian Buck.
Do you have any images of the set you can add?
