A three-car Class 123 Inter-City DMU in Manchester Piccsdilly, date inknown, alongside a refurbished-liveried Class 108. The DMSL is presumably 52099, still carrying its set number from its previous allocation. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Class 123 Swindon Inter-City set arrives at Hull Paragon with a service from Manchester Piccadilly on 29th May 1978. E52099, complete with lamp and end doors brings up the rear. Also in this view are a Cravens Class 105 2-car set waiting to travel up the Scarborough line, a Metro-Cammell Class 101 unit and a Class 124 Trans-Pennine set. On the right, 03073 with it's match truck ticks over in the parcels sidings. Syd Young.
Huddersfield 24th May 1980. A Swindon 123 set (C708 presumably with 52099 closest) is about to head west Trans Pennine. The Class 101 is probably waiting to take a Huddersfield Penistone line train. Robert Forsythe.
First generation DMU's gather in the sidings at Longsight Depot on August 31st 1980. Centre stage is former Western Region Swindon Intercity Class 123 Driving Motor Corridor Second E52099. To the right is a Class 108, whilst on the left a Class 104 keeps company with a Gloucester Class 100. Martyn Hilbert.
I have fond memories of this photo. The day before I turned 21 last day of October 1980. Keadby traversing bridge which moves out of the way of the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation and a Class 123 is crossing. I had first come here in the summer of 1973 as a 13 year old Norfolk child boating into Northern England for the first time. Robert Forsythe.
