A smart looking 3-Car Class 104 DMU with Driving Motor Composite M50519 leading, arrives at Parbold with a Southport to Manchester Victoria (Despite the destination blind) service on April 3rd 1979. The unit has additional first class accomodation in the centre trailer car. Martyn Hilbert.

A sad end for burnt out Newton Heath allocated Class 104 set 53467 + 53519 which was withdrawn in April 1985. DMCL 53519 is nearest the camera in the old steam shed sidings at Springs Branch in June 1985. The whole set was later covered in plastic sheeting, presumably due to asbestos contamination. Having just passed under the M6 Motorway, A Class 104/108 combo was approaching Bamber Bridge with a Colne to Preston service on April 10th 1982. The leading BRCW Class 104 set was formed of Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M50467 & Driving Motor Composite Lavatory (DMCL) M50519. Both sets were complete with their first class saloons.
