During the Crewe Engineering Blockade in the summer of 1985 the only way for passengers to reach Crewe was via a DMU shuttle service from Stafford. This is the shuttle train, photo taken at 05.20 hrs on 18 July 1985. The unit consists of cars 54487 + 51904 / 51175 + 54350. Lewis Bevan.
A two-car Class 108 DMU runs into Crewe station on 6 December 1986. The Chester allocated vehicles 54487 + 51904 is an original pairing that seemed to stick together until withdrawal. Keith Miller.
