A London Midland Region image (negative D1691/1) thought to be taken at Derby Works, recording collision damage to Class 108 DMBS 51905. Date and details of the incident are unknown, circa early/mid-1970s when the vehicle was allocated to Newton Heath. British Rail.

Although Northwich depot (coded 8E) closed to steam on 4th March 1968, it continued to service diesel traction until 1987. Inside the running shed on 29th June 1980 was 'Derby Lightweight' DMU M51905 - M56488 in the company of class 40 No.40134.
