Class 108 DMU at Southport

29th August 1988

With its first class saloon downgraded to second, Class 108 Driving Trailer Second Lavatory (DTSL) and Motor Brake Second 53606, were stood in the carriage sidings at Southport on August 29th 1988. 54196 had an unusually small BR emblem that looked as though it was part of a West Yorkshire PTE logo without the 'Metro Train' branding. Martyn Hilbert.

DMU

Date: 21st July 1958

Whitby station on July 21st, 1958. Less than a month old, E50605 (presumably with 56196) is at the front of the 5.40pm Whitby - Middlesbrough service, formed of a two-car 108 and two-car 101. They are awaiting the arrival of the 4.25pm ex-Scarborough before they depart as a combined train. Michael Mensing.

DMU

Date: 7th May 1988

With 'Lancaster' on its destination blind, Former Eastern Region/West Yorkshire PTE Class 108 DMU formed of cars 53606 & 54196 was passing Lodge Lane Crossing at Farington with an Ormskirk to Preston service on May 7th 1988. The two-car set had been transferred from Hull Botanic Gardens to Newton Heath in the period when surviving first generation sets were covering for the then ailing Class 142 fleet. Having traversed Farington Moss from Midge Hall, the 108 was about to descend the gradient towards the WCML at Farington Curve Junction. Martyn Hilbert.
