The 1.25pm Birmingham New Street - Rugby Midland is seen East of Humber Road Junction, Coventry, where masts have been fitted in preparation for electrification. The train on 9 November 1963 is formed of a GRC&W twin and a Met-Camm triple, freshly painted M56103 leads. Michael Mensing.
With Manchester on the destination blind M56103 leads a GRC&W and BRC&W DMU formation at Wolverhampton (Cannock Road) in early May 1965. Michael Mensing.
A Longsight allocated Class 100 (M56103 and presumably M50348) in Southport station with a two-car Class 104 and another Class 100 behind. The slide process date was July 1975. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Seen on December 23rd 1974 is a Scarborough to Manchester Victoria service, consisting of E50554, E59234, E59211 & E50575 pausing at Stalybridge, whilst on the right, the connecting service to Stockport awaits departure in the form of M50348 & M56103 in the days when the 'Stalybridge shuttle' used to run every hour or so.
