A Class 120 (C503, 50711 and presumably 59581 + 50658) and Class 101 (a TBS set) at Fairwood Junction on 18 August 1979. The formation is diverging from the avoiding line towards Westbury. With Cardiff Central on the destination blind it is probably a Weymouth to Cardiff service. Michael Mensing.
On 12th April 1985, just a month before withdrawal on the outskirts of Skipton is a Swindon Cross-Country class 120 dmu set, comprising of cars M51575 + M59581 + M51584, which has either worked in over the Settle & Carlisle line or the Little North Western from Lancaster. These units were not common along here, this is the only time I think I saw one, it's certainly the only photogragh I have of one along here! Andrew J Crowther.
