12/05/56 - A private charter was organised by the father of an RCTS member from Ipswich via Bury St.Edmunds, Ely, Sleaford and Lincoln to Doncaster (for a tour of the works) using 79043/79259. On the return journey there were signs of possible overheating at Lincoln so 79062/79278 were provided for the rest of the journey.

A Derby Lightweight DMU is seen in the sidings at Cambridge on 7 November 1967. Closest is DTCL E79261, withdrawn a few weeks earlier after spending all of its short twelve year career allocated to Norwich depot. It seems to be coupled to E79043 rather than its regular partner E79045, all three were withdrawn on the same date - 10 September 1967. Stuart Mackay Collection.
