Exams were an important part of the maintenance regimes at depots.
There were many issues of these over the years, as BR gained experience with the new vehicles and shifted focus as components became older.
This foolscap size document is undated, but stamped as Carriage & Wagon Watford — which had a first generation DMU allocation from May 1958 to January 1965, and this is likely from the earlier part of that timeframe.
At that, time work was split between different types of staff, and the first three pages define the responsibilities for the departments of the Motive Power Superintendent, Carriage and Wagon Engineer, the Chief Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, and the Chief Operating Superintendent.
There are three brakework system drawings, two of which show which parts are handled by Motive Power or C&W staff. These may have been colour coded in some versions, but just black and white in my copy — but you can tell which parts of the pipe which had been coloured.
