Derby Midland Station 1981
It may be a bit fuzzy but it is one of the few photos I took of Derby station. The original mid-Victorian Midland Railway station building - the chimneys can be seen above the awnings - was still in use but of course I failed to get a photo of that. Sadly it was demolished in the mid-1980s and replaced by the nondescript modern building. In the distance the lattice footbridge to Derby Loco Shed & Works is just visible. It was an early start from Leicester & my mate gave me a lift to the station where at 07.40 it was only just getting light. I later took the dmu seen in the platform to Sheffield and then on to Huddersfield via the remains of the Woodhead Route.
