A visit (my only one, so far) to Ilkley on 5 May 1979. I travelled on the 10.27 from Leeds, formed of Metro-Cam Class 101 2-car unit 56385/50202, and this unit is seen departing from Ilkley on its next working back to Leeds, past Ilkley signal box. Ilkley Junction box, which dated from 1913, was closed as from 11 July 1994 in the run-up to the electrification of the line. According to Wikipedia "Ilkley is notable in that it was the last British Rail station to be lit by gas. The gas lights were extinguished for the last time on 8 May 1988."
