In mid-October 1958 two Cravens sets (51257 + 56415 and 51261 + 56419) began working Kings Cross Great Northern line suburban services. This was an initial step towards a planned 20 sets being in operation during the first half of the following year (ultimately there would be 26 sets). The two sets are seen at Palmers Green station circa November 1958.
