Still carrying Strathclyde PTE livery and branding, First North Western two-car Class 101 101691 formed of cars 53171 & 51253 was departing from Romiley with the 14.25 Manchester Piccadilly to Marple service on September 29th 2001. The routes from Piccadilly to New Mills Central, Marple and Rose Hill Marple became the last regular stamping-ground for the Longsight allocated Class 101 fleet until they were withdrawn in 2003.
