A three-car Class 101 DMU formed of cars 53157, 59093 & 51500 (829) was arriving at Starcross with the 16.35 Paignton to Exeter Central service on May 30th 1990. The 101 was one of several first generation DMU's transferred to Plymouth Laira following the demise of the Class 142 'Skipper' fleet in the West Country. Many sets were cobbled together until sufficient Class 150/2 Sprinters became available.
