At the end of their mainline career, some Class 101 Met Cam DMUs were refurbished and repainted in Regional Railways livery, with some based at Norwich Crown Point, and others at Longsight in Manchester. One from the latter fleet, power twin 101681, with vehicles 51506 and 51228, in pictured at Chester on 4 August 1994.
