Class 119 DMU at Birmingham Snow Hill

Waiting at Birmingham Snow Hill station is W51102, the car is the leading vehicle of a Gloucester RC&W Cross Country set. The unit is standing by the girders that form the bridge over Great Charles Street, they are still in place today. Waiting in the background is an SLS railtour with Gresley K4 61994 The Great Marquess, it was withdrawn from BR service in December 1961.

The railtour that the steam loco is working was 'The Restored Locomotives Cavalcade' The tour started with 3442 (61994) from Snow Hill at 10.30 (returning at 18.43) 3442 took the train to Worcester Shrub. 1420/4555 continued with the train to Alveley Sidings, they returned via Stourbridge Juction and Dudley to Wolverhampton L.L. 1420/4555 then returned to Worcester Shrub Hill where 3442 was waiting to return to Birmingham Snow Hill.
