The morning mist never did clear on the 23rd October 1982 although the sun produced a brightness to the countryside. M55004 glides into the mist at Claverdon station with the 13.14 Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon train. The station is in a parlous state, the ballast bearing the sleeper imprints of the missing line, the vacant platform still having the gas lamp standards intact. The quaint platform building, built in the same style as the road level booking office, has been locked for years but the solid GWR wooden bench from within has been dragged outside. Today the station is still in use, the building has gone, replaced by a bus shelter, lighting has improved and an electronic display provides information on the sparse service. The station has no car parking and is situated in a affluent village therefore passenger numbers are low.
