A wintry 1979 view of the staggered platform at Cradley Heath previously known as Cradley Heath & Cradley with a 6 car 116 dmu preparing for the climb to Old Hill with a service from Kidderminster to Birmingham New Street. A Saturday afternoon working perhaps strengthened to cope with football fans for Birmingham City. All the buildings on the left bar one (Dunns Photographic) have been swept away and the up platform re-sited behind the photographer. Set TS510 is closest, presumably 50067 + 59010 + 50093. Cold day at Cradley Heath. A Kidderminster to Birmingham New St service comprised of two class 116 units calls at Cradley Heath on 6/1/1979. With staggered platforms the station will be altered and a bus station built. Stephen Burdett.

Leaving Cradley Heath Class 117 set T315 (presumably 51394 + 59745 + 51352) tackles Old Hill Bank on its way to Birmingham New Street with a service from Kidderminster. March 1990. A standing start from Cradley often posed a task for an ailing dmu as the bank started at 1 in 49 and for the next mile was in the main 1 in 51!, Stephen Burdett.
