A three-car Swindon Class 120 DMU, with Driving Motor Second Lavatory (DMSL) M53655 closest, was stabled in Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to the Preston Power Box on December 7th 1985. Martyn Hilbert.

A line up of stabled DMU's at Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to Preston Power Box on March 23rd 1986. Left to right, a BRCW Class 104 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M53466 was a the head of a four-car rake of 104's. Next to it was a Class 108 with DTSL M54256 against the block with Cravens Class 105 M53812 alongside. Just visible on the extreme right is ex Class 127 car M55970 in use as a parcels/mail/newspapers unit fitted with roller shutter doors. Despite appearances this was a shot over a low wire fence. A two-car Metro-Cammell Class 101 DMU formed of cars M54351 & M51177 were stabled with other first generation DMU's in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on October 12th 1986. Martyn Hilbert.

Vehicle: 55984 Set: 914
Former Bedford-St Pancras Class 127 DMU cars, converted for parcels use with roller shutter doors and numbered M55984 & M55974 (914), were stabled at Croft Street Sidings adjacent to Fylde Junction and the Preston PSB on March 30th 1986. There had been 11 x 2-car parcel units formed in 1985 (sets 910-920) utilising redundant and modified Class 127 DMBS vehicles. Martyn Hilbert.

With the 309ft high spire of St Walburges Church as a backdrop, a six-car lash-up of Derby Class 108 DMU's were stabled in Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to the Preston PSB and Fylde Junction on February 22nd 1986. The nearest set was formed of cars 53968 & 54251 which at the time were allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor Depot. Martyn Hilbert.

Ex Class 127 Parcels/Newspaper DMU formed of cars M55970 + M55980 (910) was stabled between duties at Croft Street Sidings at Preston on March 23rd 1986. Eleven of these two-car DMU's fitted with roller shutter doors had been converted from former Bedford - St Pancras Class 127 Driving Cars in 1985. They were all withdrawn in 1989. Martyn Hilbert.

A two-car Swindon 'Cross Country' Class 120 DMU formed of Driving Motor Brake Seconds M51580 & M51574 back-to-back, was stabled in Croft Street Sidings adjacent to the Preston PSB on Sunday September 7th 1986. The unit spent its final period of operation in use as a mail/parcels set. Martyn Hilbert.

With a 'Not to be Moved' sign attached to one of the front lamp irons, a two-car BRCW Class 104 DMU formed of cars M53466 & M53511 was stabled in Croft Street Sidings adjacent to the Preston PSB on December 29th 1985. To the right is Class 127 parcel set 916. Martyn Hilbert.

One of the stylish and well-appointed Swindon Class 120 'Cross-Country' DMU's was stabled between duties in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on February 22nd 1986. The Newton Heath allocated three-car set was formed of cars M51575, M59581 & M51584 and had been transferred from the Western Region in 1982. Martyn Hilbert.

Vehicle: 53714 Set: EP522
A pair of Swindon built Class 120 'Cross-Country' Driving Motor Brake Composites, M53714 & M53713 in use as a parcels/mail unit, was stabled in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on August 31st 1986. The nearest car, M53714 had once been part of a Derby Etches Park allocated three-car set EP522. New in April 1958, M53714 & M53713 were taken out of passenger use in January 1986 and in February 1986, the two-car set was allocated to Chester for parcels/mail duties. The pair of cars were finally withdrawn in April 1987 and scrapped by Berry's of Leicester. Martyn Hilbert.
