A line up of stabled DMU's at Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to Preston Power Box on March 23rd 1986. Left to right, a BRCW Class 104 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M53466 was a the head of a four-car rake of 104's. Next to it was a Class 108 with DTSL M54256 against the block with Cravens Class 105 M53812 alongside. Just visible on the extreme right is ex Class 127 car M55970 in use as a parcels/mail/newspapers unit fitted with roller shutter doors. Despite appearances this was a shot over a low wire fence. Former Bedford-St Pancras Class 127 DMU cars, converted for parcels use with roller shutter doors and numbered M55984 & M55974 (914), were stabled at Croft Street Sidings adjacent to Fylde Junction and the Preston PSB on March 30th 1986. There had been 11 x 2-car parcel units formed in 1985 (sets 910-920) utilising redundant and modified Class 127 DMBS vehicles. Martyn Hilbert.

With the 309ft high spire of St Walburges Church as a backdrop, a six-car lash-up of Derby Class 108 DMU's were stabled in Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to the Preston PSB and Fylde Junction on February 22nd 1986. The nearest set was formed of cars 53968 & 54251 which at the time were allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor Depot. Martyn Hilbert.

Ex Class 127 Parcels/Newspaper DMU formed of cars M55970 + M55980 (910) was stabled between duties at Croft Street Sidings at Preston on March 23rd 1986. Eleven of these two-car DMU's fitted with roller shutter doors had been converted from former Bedford - St Pancras Class 127 Driving Cars in 1985. They were all withdrawn in 1989. Martyn Hilbert.

One of the stylish and well-appointed Swindon Class 120 'Cross-Country' DMU's was stabled between duties in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on February 22nd 1986. The Newton Heath allocated three-car set was formed of cars M51575, M59581 & M51584 and had been transferred from the Western Region in 1982. Martyn Hilbert.

A pair of Swindon built Class 120 'Cross-Country' Driving Motor Brake Composites, M53714 & M53713 in use as a parcels/mail unit, was stabled in Croft Street Sidings at Preston on August 31st 1986. The nearest car, M53714 had once been part of a Derby Etches Park allocated three-car set EP522. New in April 1958, M53714 & M53713 were taken out of passenger use in January 1986 and in February 1986, the two-car set was allocated to Chester for parcels/mail duties. The pair of cars were finally withdrawn in April 1987 and scrapped by Berry's of Leicester. Martyn Hilbert.
