Vehicle: 54231   

A 2-Car Class 108 with M54231 leading calls at the rural West Lancashire outpost of Hoscar whilst working a Manchester Victoria to Southport service on October 4th 1986. The station has staggered platforms either side of Hoscar Moss Road and is surrounded by open countryside. Martyn Hilbert.

Vehicle: 51822   

A long time resident of Bradford Hammerton Street Depot for use on services between Manchester Victoria and Leeds via Bradford, along the old L&Y Calder Valley Main Line, E51822 was working as part of a 2-Car set, seeing out its last days from Newton Heath when photographed on the 6th September 1986. Dating from 1961, the car was bringing up the rear of a Southport to Manchester Victoria Service, along with a 2-Car Class 104 set, calling at the staggered platforms of Hoscar Station. 14th May 1988

Vehicle: 53872   Set: N362

Still retaining West Midlands PTE branding on the outer end of the driving car, a Class 116/101 three-car hybrid DMU formed of cars M53872, M59528 & M53862 formed as Newton Heath allocated set N362, was awaiting departure from the staggered platform layout at Hoscar in West Lancashire with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on May 14th 1988. The set was disbanded soon after this image was recorded, 53872 was withdrawn in June 1988, 59528 lasted in service until July 1988 whilst 53862 survived until October 1988. All three cars were subsequently scrapped by Berry's of Leicester. Martyn Hilbert.
