53532 + 54181 glides to a halt at Millbrook station whilst working the 12.10 Bletchley - Bedford train on the 10th December 1983. At this time the delightful little station had a massive station house and well kept wooden shelters, the low hight platform had a full set of attractive lights. Class 121 single unit 55031 at Millbrook on 19 January 1994 working the 14.40 Bedford-Bletchley. 55031 had been new in December 1960 and was initially allocated to Reading (81D). It later saw service from Laira, Southall, Reading again and Old Oak Common before being re-allocated to Bletchley (BY) in December 1992 and transferred into departmental service as 977976. 977976 was used as part of the Severn Tunnel Emergency Train until its withdrawal in April 2008 and it moved into preservation. The train pictured is the 14.40 Bedford-Blatchley, comprised of Class 121 single unit 55023 coupled to a 2-car Class 117 set L709, 51344 + 51386. 55023 was built for use on secondary WR branch lines and was new in November 1960 It's first allocation was to Southall (81C). 55023 ended its BR days working from Bletchley depot (BY) mainly on the Bletchley-Bedford line. It was repainted into green livery in March 1993, but was declared surplus and withdrawn from service in November 1996, passing into preservation. Lewis Bevan.
