Single Car DMU no.W55026 (set B126) stands at the somewhat desolate branch terminus of Severn Beach north of Bristol on the Severn Estuary on October 8, 1983. The unit has just arrived with train 2B83 the 13.10 from Bristol Temple Meads and after the driver changes ends will return as train 2B83 again forming the 14.00 to Bristol Temple Meads calling all stations. Class 119 set B573 (W51083 + W59417 + W51055) at Severn Beach on 1 May 1979. Some students were conducting a passenger survey that evening and when they got to us asked "do you live on the beach"? Quick as a flash my friend Alan replied "no, I live in a house". My how we laughed. I don't think the poor lad knew what to make of that, nor our reason for travel and departing again on the same train, as it didn't fit neatly into any of his survey tick boxes!!! Severn Beach station on August 16 1972, and a diesel railcar (W55032, set no B132) awaits departure with the 16.08 to Bristol Temple Meads. It looks as if the GWR-style nameboard has just been removed, but some GWR platform benches survive. Tom Burnham.

A two-car Class 108 DMU at Severn Beach on 29 July 1992. Carrying set S947 the vehicle closest is presumably 51567, transferred from Swansea to Cardiff in March of that year, in September it would move to its final allocation of Longsight. Alan Grange.

Bristol set B801 (presumably W51446-W59547-W51517) seen at Severn Beach in October 1975. Transferred from the Scottish Region in May of that year, the unit still seems to be awaiting a new roller blind whilst the doors to the first class sections carry prominent "1" markers. Steve Carter.
