On 29 June 1987 Class 108 51570 leads 59367 (Class 116) + 59206 (Class 104) + 53628 (Class 108) on a Kettering - Bedford service at Kettering South. Despite the Tyseley set number, this was a Bletchley unit. Mike Dean.

One of Buxton's allocated 3-car class 108 dmu's (unusually with a 101 center Car) is seen operating Peak Rail Rambler's Sunday only Buxton-Edale-Buxton service, which did about 3 return trips is seen rounding the curve at Chinley East Junc, heading towards Sheffield on the Hope Valley line on the 5th July 1987. The line the train is on is the freight only spur that leads to the quarries in the Buxton area. Andrew J Crowther.

A Sheffield-Huddersfield via Barnsley sevice formed of a class 108/101 hybrid dmu, passes the site of the once extensive Barnsley Junction just East of Penistone on the 11th July 1987. Once part of the Woodhead Route, the trackbed to the right with a few gantries left was the mainline through Deepcar to Sheffield, which remained in use until 15th May 1983 when the Sheffield-Huddersfield trains were diverted via Barnsley. The last electrically hauled train passed through here just before 5am on the 18th July 1981 and was the 6M10 Harwich-Trafford Park Speedlink hauled by 76010 and 76016. Andrew J Crowther.

A 2-car Class 108 DMU (with coaches 54493/51942) in Platform 1 at Kettering on 16 July 1987. I have this down as the 13.35 Kettering-Corby, but this platform faces south. Did the 13.35 depart south from Kettering with passengers, and then reverse to travel north? Or was the unit about to shunt over to Platform 3 to pick up passengers for its departure? Lewis Bevan.
