Class 108 DMU set B960 (54197 and presumably 53602) brings an evening Swindon to Warminster train into Westbury on 15 August 1987. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Class 108 2-car dmu, comprising vehicles 51916 + 51571 at Kettering to form a service for Corby (despite what s showing in the destination panel!) on 18 August 1987. As this was a south-facing bay at Kettering I assume the unit will shunt to one of the main line platforms before heading to Corby. Lewis Bevan.

A typical British summer’s day (22 August 1987) sees class 108 unit T203 (presumably 52054 + 51933) arriving at Coventry from Nuneaton. Robert28194.

With the former Jubilee Mill as a backdrop, a two-car Derby Lightweight Class 108 DMU formed of cars M51924 & M52038 was departing from the village of Croston with the 17.04 Ormskirk to Preston service on August 27th 1987. Martyn Hilbert.

M51569 (BX489) part of the Buxton allocation is a 1960 built Derby Lightweight Class 108 DMCL, calls at Cheedale Halt with the Summer Sundays only Edale - Buxton ramber service on 6th September 1987, in this view heading towards Buxton rather inappropriately displaying Piccadilly on the destination blind. Cheedale Halt was on the Buxton - Great Rocks freight only line and was opened on the 5th July 1987, it was used by Peak Rail's Rambler's service from Edale-Buxton service, about 3 return trips a day, and closed after the last train had left on the 13th September 1987, so a week after I took this, the freight line is still open. On the afternoon of 7 September 1987 two of Tyseley's two-car Class 108 sets led by T211 (54277 and presumably 53943) were photographed climbing the 1/75 of Wilmcote Bank a short distance from Stratford-upon-Avon. The leading DTS was possibly unique at the time as it still had operational headcode blinds although I'm not sure what the code carried on this run represented. Later, on the run to Stratford from Leamington Spa it had changed to display the set number. These shots were a bonus as I was in this spot for a picture of 47628 with the VSOE on its way from Stratford to London Victoria. Peter Tandy.
