Metropolitan Cammell Class 111 numbers E78956 and E78706 passing the abandoned platforms of the closed Marsh Lane station running ECS from Leeds to Neville Hill. Marsh Lane station was the original terminus of the Leeds and Selby Railway and opened on 22nd September 1834, when the line was taken over by the York and North Midland Railway in 1840 the station closed as trains were diverted into Hunslet Lane station, it re-opened in 1850 when a local passenger service to Milford Junction was started, in 1869 the station was re-sited to this position with the line extended over the viaduct into the current Leeds station in 1888, the station closed on 15th September 1958. On a very dark January 26th 1983, Metro-Cammell power twin E50280 + E50275 loads up at March whilst working the 10.38 Doncaster - Cambridge. It was unusual to see a power twin set in East Anglia and this one was based at Leeds Neville Hill depot. Two months earlier these services had been diverted via Peterborough following closure of the joint line from March to Spalding. Gerard Fletcher.

Met Camm class 111 DMBS E50281 leads a smart 3 car rake away from the impressive Hull Paragon for servicing. Underneath the overall roof sit a variety of multiple unit types, including a Cravens and Swindon Trans-Pennine set, and space appears to be at a premium in the bus station to the left. 3rd July 1981. With the Rowntree-Macintosh chocolate factory alongside, a Metro-Cammell Class 101 three-car DMU formed of cars E50283, E59571 & E50278 was stood at Halifax with the daily Leeds to Blackpool North service on August 9th 1980. During this period, this out-and-back Monday-Saturday working was the only regular timetabled passenger train to use the Copy Pit route between Hall Royd Junction at Todmorden and Gannow Junction at Burnley.
