A Class 114 set led by 53038, carrying Tyseley set number T021 (and presumably with 54042), branded "Red Star" and displaying "Bingham" in the destination blind passes the remains of Burton Latimer & Isham station with an up service. The up slow has already been lifted and the last remains of the down slow are being dealt with. A quarter of a century later, a third track was re-instated. Mike Dean.
Tyseley DMU depot includes Class 114 Derby 2-car parcel DMU T021 (53038 + 54042) and another unidentified set plus high density stock (including 51867 from T412 on the left) on 28-11-88. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
Wilmcote Bank, the 1/73 northbound climb out of Stratford-upon-Avon is the location for this shot of class 114 formed of set T021 (presumably 53021 + 54012) on 28 April 1990. It is on the 17.XX from Stratford-upon-Avon to Leamington Spa and one of the lineside gasholders near Stratford station station is clearly visible in the picture which I took from a convenient farm crossing. Class 114 53027 is seen at Tyseley carriage sidings on 26.12.1987, presumably with 54041. Carrying set number T022, the Tyseley set numbers beginning with '0' were at this time were for the Parcels units. It had been transferred here from Cambridge that month. Andy Cole.

Loaned from Tyseley and somewhat optimistically displaying ‘Chester’ on its destination blind, Class 114 T022 (53002 + 54047) depart from Bridgnorth with the 10.40am to Bewdley during the Severn Valley Railway’s diesel gala on October 15 1989. Mel Holley.

An unusual event for the Stourbridge Town branch in May 1988 when a single car unit was not available and a 2 car hybrid set from Tyseley was brought into action. It is seen arriving into Stourbridge Junction, a Class 114 DTC labeled T023 leading, it seems the other is a high density vehicle. Stephen Burdett.
Between 1988 and 1991 the Institute of Mining Engineers organised a series of railtours visiting what was left of the British Coal mining industry as pit closures were becoming more frequent as the industry was being run down. The third 'IME' railtour named the "North Yorkshire Tour" is seen here prior to departure from Sheffield Midland on 08/10/89 at 08.55 with set T023 on the rear working with two 3-car class 116 units. I managed to travel on all the tours but have very few images of them as they were intensive freight line tours mostly in DMUs with no photo stops so any record of them tended to be a grabbed shot before boarding. They ventured to places thought inconceivable a few years earlier, the collieries on this tour were: Goldthorpe, Frickley, South Kirkby, Royston Drift, Grimethorpe, Ledston (Allerton Bywater), Selby New Mine, Kellingley, Sharlston and Woolley Westside not to mention Drax Power station for good measure.
