According to my scant notes from this day in 1976 (March 12th), I took a TP photo of DMU C320 (presumably 50869 + 59035 + 50922) at Cardiff Central (looking east). Though the details are lacking, It's a captured moment, despite the grainy Kodak plus-X film and my shoddy development of it! Arnie Furniss.

Not a lot of activity at Stratford on this spring day in 1976 (10th April). One Class 116 diesel multiple unit in the siding and another ticking over in platform 3 before leaving on a service to Birmingham. Pete LG99.
Leamington Spa Warwickshire 10th April 1976. A commuter takes his leisurely time to his seat on the dmu in the northside Up Bay at this Great Western Railway station. Trains at this time would have terminated at Birmingham Moor Street since the through lines to Snow Hill were closed in 1967. Maybe that's the Daily Telegraph he's carrying. Plenty of good jobs going inside there according to the hoarding. Pete LG99.
Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, on 10th April 1976. The Great Western Railway station at Stratford remained intact into the mid-1970s when the Down platform buildings were demolished. The covered footbridge remained and a Birmingham Moor Street-bound dmu waits alongside it. At this time the line south to Honeybourne and Cheltenham was still open for freight. However shortly afterwards a derailment at Winchcombe gave British Railways an excuse to close the through line completely. The closest vehicle, a DMBS, is marked as set P355 and is presumably 50854, transferred from Laira to Tyseley a few weeks previously. Pete LG99.
A Derby suburban DMU makes a smokey departure up the bank from Stratford for Birmingham Moor Street station past the drooping Great Western lower quadrant signal on 10th April 1976. Stratford upon Avon East signal box is in the left distance. Pete LG99.
Leamington Spa Station on 10th April 1976. A three car Derby suburban diesel multiple unit heads north from the Great Western Railway station controlled by the ground signal just in front of the cab which is pulled off, being shunted into the down bay platform ready for the next Birmingham service. The open space between the houses and the platform on the left was the site of the old LNWQR station which closed in the 1960s. Pete LG99.
