Tyseley's set T305 formed of the GW Chocolate & Cream liveried 51368 - 59520 - 51410 seen at Derby in 1991. Robert Chilton Collection.
Back in the early 90's there was prolonged heavy rain in the South East, which resulted in Higham Tunnel being flooded. The water reached the height of the conductor rail which discharged the current, so electric trains could not be run. Some very unusual motive power was drafted in and a Rochester - Gravesend shuttle was instigated; this is a WR Class 117 unit leaving Higham, set L411 (presumably 51346 + 59498 + 51388). Stuart Pearce.

Some very unusual motive power was drafted in and a Rochester - Gravesend shuttle was instigated; here a Class 117 DMU (set L411 presumably 51346 + 59498 + 51388) borrowed from West London stands at Rochester. A Class 117 DMU (set L401, 51333 and presumably 59485 + 51375) entering Ealing Broadway circa 1991. John Law Collection.
Pressed Steel Class 117 unit L419 heading west through West Ealing station circa 1991. The Class 117 Pressed Steel units had a monopoly of local services out of Paddington for 30 years, from 1959 to 1989. By the time this photo was taken, they were about to be finally replaced by new generation Class 165 Thames Turbo sprinters. A smart looking NSE liveried 3-car unit L419, made up of 51398, 59508 & 51356 is seen passing through the newly refurbished West Ealing station, about 7 miles out of Paddington. Chris McKee.
Class 117 set L420 (presumably 51400 + 59510 + 51358) at Southall, date unknown. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Tyseley's dmu set T315 (power cars presumably 51352 + 51394) ticking over at the south end of Walsall station sometime in 1991. At this time passenger services north of the station ran only to Hednesford on what is now called the Chase Line. By 1991 the original South Staffordshire Railway buildings had been demolished on the left and the later interesting round booking hall behind right had been replaced by new department store over the tracks. Pete LG99.
An ex-works NSE Class 117 approaches Culham station (between Oxford and Didcot) circa 1991. David Rowe.
Class 117 set L417 (51396 and presumably 59506 + 51354) at Southall in the early 1990s. Stuart Mackay Collection.
An unusual visitor to Tyseley in about February 1991 as class 117 L412 (51347 + 59499 + 51389) called at the station with a train either from Shirley or Stratford-upon-Avon. The unit was allocated to Reading depot at the time and as far as I can establish was never one of Tyseley's sets. The Midlands depot was well-known at the time for getting hold of "foreign" units to fill in gaps in their own increasingly unreliable trains. Peter Tandy.
A six-car DMU formation departs from Maidenhead on 8 February 1991 formed of Class 117 set L400 (presumably 51332 + 59484 + 51374), a two-car Class 101, and Class 121 55025. Andrew Malloy.

At this time trains had to run to a crossover south of the station before accessing the down platform before returning to Birmingham. Peter Tandy.
The front of 51368 showing the Bear and Ragged Staff symbol used as Warwickshire's motto on the headcode box. Taken at Leamington Spa on 13 April 1991. Peter Tandy.
