Class 37 no. 37114 "City of Worcester" stands at Worcester Shrub Hill on 2 May 1993 hauling GWR-liveried Class 117 set T305 on a shuttle service run in conjunction with the Open Day at Worcester. The shuttle (which had "Castle" 4-6-0 5029 on the other end) made 3 return trips from Shrub Hill to Henwick. Lewis Bevan.
Class 37 no. 37114 "City of Worcester" arrives back at Shrub Hill with a shuttle service from Henwick on 2 May 1993. The shuttle was being run in conjunction with the Open Day being held at Worcester on that day and was topped and tailed with GWR "Castle" Class no. 5029 "Nunney Castle". 3 of the 4 vehicles making up the coaching stock of this train was chocolate and cream-liveried dmu set 117305. This set consisted of 51368/59520/51410. Lewis Bevan.

Western Region DMU set L707 (51342+51384) makes for an unusual sight departing London Waterloo being used for driver route learning trips on May 29, 1993. Waterloo International station visible behind had been formerly opened 3 weeks earlier on 6th May 1993 the day services should have started through the Channel Tunnel. Sadly with tunnel construction delays there was to be a another 17 month wait for service to start and in the meantime Waterloo International was simply hired out for corporate events. BR EPS carried on training crews in the meantime with frequent trips from London to Folkestone using a modified EMU with cinema style seats while a hired 2-car DMU from Network SouthEast was used for drivers to learn the West London line from North Pole Depot and the mainline into London Waterloo in readiness for the launch of Eurostar in 1994. Adrian Nicholls.
Framed by the bridge. Stratford upon Avon in June 1993 with 117310 (presumably 51373 + 59486 + 51415) having just arrived from Birmingham Snow Hill. Stephen Burdett.
The Regional Railways colour scheme didn't look quite so good in bad weather conditions as in sunshine but any 1st generation unit was a rarity on the Derby To Birmingham line in 1993 so this shot of 117306 formed of 51369 + 59521 + 51411 at Lea Marston on 3 June 1993 was well worth a frame. This was an empty stock working which I assume was on its way from Derby to Tyseley. Peter Tandy.
Alongside 37412 at St Blazey on 6 June 1993 is Class 117 set T304 (presumably 51407 + 51365) with a NSE-liveried vehicle behind. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Chocolate-and-cream liveried 51410 at the head of unit 117 305 (51368/59520/51410) waiting to leave New St for Wolverhampton on 6/7/93. This is what should have been the 17.56 departure for Aberystwyth : because of the incoming working running late, it was terminated at W'hampton, so passengers on 117 305 will transfer to the return working at Wolverhampton. Leonard Rogers.
A view of Tyseley carriage sidings at around 12.30 on 7/7/93. Visible from left to right are : 977752 (ex-51306 - part of former Sandite unit T007), 977842 (ex-55032 - part of the then-current T007), 117 306 (51369/59521/51411) and T317 (51314/59481/51329). T317 was soon to be disbanded but, at this stage, still retained its as-delivered formation, some 33 years after it was put into service. It was also the only complete class 118 still in service. 117 306 would be officially transferred to Haymarket, to see out its last six years of life on the likes of Fife peakhour workings, just two days later. Leonard Rogers.
A Class 117 with DMS 51384 closest (and presumably with 51342) is seen stabled at Clapham Junction on 09.07.1993. Andy Cole.
117308 with 51371 at the front (presumably with 59509 + 51413) on the 18:50 ex Birmingham New Street at Longbridge on July 11, 1993. John Carter.
51394 leads set 117 314 leaving Waverley station, on the 16.47 to Cowdenbeath, on 27/7/93. The set had just been allocated to Haymarket, having been transferred from Tyseley, for a couple of months and would go on to work out the last five or so years of its life from the Edinburgh depot, on workings like the one shown here. Leonard Rogers.
Set 117 314 (presumably 51352 + 59489 + 51394) leaves Haymarket, entering the long tunnel that takes it to Princes St. Gardens and into Waverley. August 1993. Alan Rintoul.
