At Watford Junction on 11 August 1996 Pressed Steel Class 117 set 117704 (DMBS 51341 and presumably DMS 51383) is working the 08.27 To St Albans Abbey. Green Liveried Class 121 55023 is at attached to the rear. Dave Warby.

Class 117 DMS 51415, set number 117 310, is seen condemned at Springburn Works in Regional Railways Scotrail livery on 31.08.1996. It would be towed next door to MC Metals for scrapping. Andy Cole.

Class 117 DMBS 51356, set number L702 (presumably with 51398), is seen at Kensington Olympia with a working from Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction on 20.09.1996. Today these services are incredibly busy, especially during the peak times. Andy Cole.

Set: L707
Bedford station on 12 October 1996. Class 117 2-car unit L707 (51335/51377) has arrived working the 14.50 from Bletchley while Class 319 184 has arrived on Platform 2 with a service from the south. 51335/51377 were built by Pressed Steel in 1960 and were originally in a 3-car set with trailer 59487. They were allocated to Bletchley depot at the date of my photo, and were withdrawn from that depot in May 1998. Both vehicles were scrapped by Sims Metals in Cardiff. 319 184 was one of the second batch of Class 319s, built in 1990. It was converted to a 319/3 (by the removal of 1st class accommodation) in the period 1997-1999 and, as such, is still in service with Northern Trains. Lewis Bevan.
