Class 117 DMU set L424 (presumably 51404 + 59514 + 51362) with an Oxford service at Heyford on 28-4-82. Brian Daniels.
Class 117 dmus were the backbone of local services out of London Paddington for many years following construction by Pressed Steel in Linwood, Scotland in 1959-61. This three-coach train (presumably 51362 and presumably 59514 + 51404) is passing the prefabricated delight of Slough signal box on August 11, 1984. Jeremy Chapter.

At Acton on 19 September 1989 class 117 L424 (51362 + 59514 + 51404) passes with a Paddington to Reading local service. This wasn't the nicest place to stand with 4 very busy lanes of traffic behind the camera and probably isn't somewhere I'd go in 2023 given the OHLE catenary and less than riveting traction using the lines. Class 117 DMU sets L424 (51404 + 59514 + 51362) and L412 (presumably 51347 + 59499 + 51389) are on the Fen Tiger Railtour run jointly by Hertfordshire Railtours and the South Electric Group. The tour set out from Reading and travelled via Victoria, Kensington, the North London Line, Stratford, Finsbury Park and Peterborough.
