Class 118 DMU set P462 (presumably 51304 + 59477 + 51319) in Exeter St Davids station. Date unknown, it was a Laira set from May 1982 until 51304 was withdrawn with accident damage in July 1985. At that time the DMS would move to Reading to become part of Class 119 set L579, the centre car would be stored then reinstated in August to Cardiff as part of Class 118 set C465. Plymouth Laira Depot Class 117 three-car set P463 with W51320 leading (and preaumably (presumably 59472 + 51305 behind), bustles its way into Quintrell Downs with a Par to Newquay branch service on July 21st 1980. The hand-operated gated level crossing bisected the A5038 and along with its lower quadrant home signals the lady Crossing Keeper here controlled all the movements. Martyn Hilbert.

A Class 118 3-Car DMU with Motor Brake Second W51320 leading (and presumably 59472 + 51305 behind) stands at the single active platform at Falmouth ready to depart on another 11.75 mile journey to the bay platform on the Cornish Main Line at Truro on July 29th 1980. Although much rationalisation has taken place, at least passengers have been spared the bus shelter treatment, and the original platform canopy was still in use. Martyn Hilbert.
