The department in Rail House at Manchester that used to be responsible for day excursions came up with the brilliant idea of an overnight trip to Penzance and an overnight trip home! Corridor stock and enough room to get some kip! Mr Heyl and myself got a day return to Plymouth and stopped off at Truro to do the Falmouth branch. This is how it was in 1974. A man with a bag on wheels, years ahead of his time! Sun 20 Apr 1975 at 16:04. A GRCW 3-car Cross Country dmu set near Warminster forming [1V28] the 15:40 Salisbury-Cardiff Central. The handle of the tail lamp obscures the last digit of the st number but it could be B578 (W51064, W59423 and W51092). Mr Deltic.
