120 DMU

I believe this pair to be 51578 and 51587 minus their regular centre trailer car. They are seen having just crossed the roadbridge over the former A30 between Roche and St. Columb Major and are working the 11.38 from Par to Newquay (NB this is a Sunday). Anthony Williams.

120 DMU

circa 1973

Set: C501

Mystery pic! Circa 1973. I have no memory of taking this, or where it is, and the young lady posing at the front is nothing to do with me... All I can say is that it features a Class 120 set C501, wearing a 6000 Locomotive Association headboard, and was obviously taken in failing light... I travelled on 6000 LA DMU tours to Diss (for Bressingham) and Folkestone (for the RHDR), but don't recall any others. Thanks to Kenneth Leiper the station has now been identified as North Camp on the Reading to Guildford line, looking south. John Crooks.

120 DMU

Unknown Date

Set: EP490

Derby Etches Park based Swindon Cross-Country set EP490 enters Eccles Road with what appears to be a Met-Camm/ Cravens hybrid set on the back. Date unknown. Outside Scotland, Class 120s in plain blue livery were unusual. Steve Davies Collection.

A Swindon 3-car Cross Country unit departs for Inverness from Aberdeen during the demolition of the platform canopies and north footbridge in February 1973. John McIntyre.

120 DMU

17th February 1973

Two 3-car units arrive at Aberdeen with the 8:40am from Inverness but are unusually having to use Platform 8 due to a special for Kyle of Lochalsh waiting to depart north in Platform 6. The pillars that once supported the canopies still stand but not for much longer. There is a sprinkling of snow on the ground on 17 February 1973. John McIntyre.
