Swindon Works class 120/2 motor second W50648 of a Cross-Country triple DMU set in blue and grey livery, in the company of class 31/1 31210 at the Cardiff Canton DMU and carriage sheds on 16th September 1979. The class 120 is from the first batch built, which had round as opposed to oval buffers. The Brush type 2 entered BR traffic in July 1960 as D5634 and is now to be found on the heritage Dean Forest Railway. Gordon Edgar.

Am SLS Special DMU train under Fforchdwm Viaduact at Garth Tonmawr on 1st July 1961. Image by Derek Chaplin. Now this is a very obscure location to find a DMU in South Wales, the line to Garth Tonmawr colliery. Fforchdwm viaduct built in 1840 to carry the Glyncorrwg Mineral Railway across the Plenna Valley. Apparently, it was blown up by the Army on 14/07/1979 as it was too dangerous a structure. It does not look too safe here in 1961. Peter Brabham Collection.
