Swindon Works class 120/2 motor second W50648 of a Cross-Country triple DMU set in blue and grey livery, in the company of class 31/1 31210 at the Cardiff Canton DMU and carriage sheds on 16th September 1979. The class 120 is from the first batch built, which had round as opposed to oval buffers. The Brush type 2 entered BR traffic in July 1960 as D5634 and is now to be found on the heritage Dean Forest Railway. Gordon Edgar.

A very rare picture of a Class 120 with yellow cab doors, seen at Swindon in summer '67. The first of the class in blue/grey, the paint date on the solebar reads 5/6/67, and the set number is also on the solebar - BL527. The other two vehicles in the set remained in green, W50650 (pictured) was possibly painted singly as a trial for approval before more of the class was done. David Faircloth.

1986 saw a welcome return of Swindon DMUs to Ayrshire in the form of an influx of Cross Country Units. Most of the Swindon units had received Metro Cammel centre cars. Here 53651 (formerly of Derby Etches Park set 519, and appears to have a broken window mid-vehicle) and 53648 are seen at the magnificent Ayr station. Andrew McConnell.
Class 120 DMBS 53651 leads a mixed 3 car unit (presumably 59124 + 53736) past North Woodhill farm on the outskirts of Kilmarnock with a midday service from Glasgow Central. 7th June 1986. It still carries the EP from it's former DY set number, the adhesive marks show it was set 519. Bruce Galloway.
