A Class 120 set in Chester station on March 25, 1988. It is formed of two brake vehicles, meaning that it is parcels use, the only set remaining on this date was 53713 and 53703. Hamish Stevenson.
2nd April 1988
Vehicle: 53713 Set: 510
Chester allocated Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU set 510 comprising of cars M53713 & M53703 at Crewe on the 2nd April 1988. Now converted to parcels use, the Red Star parcels branding can just be seen down the side. By this time these units were thin on the ground and all had been withdrawn before the year was out. The new generation of DMU in the shape of 150 124 can be seen along side on a Derby service. Andrew J Crowther.

Class 120 M51575 at Snailwell on the 15th May 1988. The vehicle had spent it's last days in service at Cambridge. Nicholas Youngman.

Class 120 power car M51582. It was latterly in parcels use, and immediately before withdrawal in March 1987 had been allocated a new number 55939 in the parcels series. It is crudely applied above the original one. Seen at Ely on July 4, 1988. Nicholas Youngman.

A Class 120 DMU parcel set in the shed at Machynlleth, the slide process date was September 1988. Each power car still carries its former Etches Park set number, 510 on 53713, and EP527 on 53703, both have had 301 added under the driver's window. Stuart Mackay Collection.
