Ex-works Class 120 set C506 was used, and this view shows centre car W59282 and the DMSL is presumably W50659. This is the RCTS "Midland Welshman No 2" railtour at Porth on 13 May 1978. These Swindon-built cross-country units were very comfortable and sought after for railtours where higher capacity was not needed. Car W50715 is nearest the camera, the other vehicles are W59588 + W50665. Jeremy Chapter.

The Monmouthshire Railway Society "Tintern Thunderbolt" rail tour on 8 April 1978 was planned to go to Markham Colliery, but owing to flooding was only able to go as far as Oakdale Colliery Sidings. The train was formed of a class 120 Cross Country set C507 (50721 + 59275 + 50668) coupled to a class 118 Bristol Suburban set (only just visible). Jeremy Chapter.
