Withdrawn Class 126 DMSL SC51022 is boarded up and well stripped of parts. Withdrawn from Ayr depot in March 1982 where it spent its whole career it was scrapped at Snailwell in November of that year. This was possibly taken at Falkland Yard, Ayr, before the move south. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Swindon DMBSL Sc51043 heads up the six car Ayrshire Wanderer (126 413 + 126 406) in Platform 1. The two Swindon sets are having a rest after a shunt from Platform 3 whilst the patrons enjoy lunch in Largs! The class also remained in service for a bit longer after the tour which had been to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see the train, led by Sc51026, arriving at Paisley where I was living at the time to stop and pick up. However, it wasn't booked to stop there on the return which was routed via the Canal line. As I was working for BR I arranged with the guard and tour organiser for a special stop to set down at Canal station. So far so good until I realised after the train had departed that the station was locked with me on the platform and the only way out was through the coal yard and over the gate.
