M79649 was a DTC which had been converted to an inspection saloon for the LMR soon after being built. By June '67 it was at Shields electric traction depot, no doubt for use in conjunction with the South Clyde electrification, and renumbered DB999510. It is seen here the following month, parked in a siding at Carstairs, on the 16th July 1967. Graham Johnston.

975010 - the former M79900 and later known as Iris - in what appears to be Huddersfield station, date unknown. It had been transferred to departmental use at York in 1967 and appears to be on route learning duties. It was used for route learning in preparation for the introduction of Huddersfield-Penistone-Sheffield Midland DMU service on 5 January 1970, so this could be circa December 1969. Malcolm Clements.

Closest is DTCL E79261, withdrawn a few weeks earlier after spending all of its short twelve year career allocated to Norwich depot. It seems to be coupled to E79043 rather than its regular partner E79045, all three were withdrawn on the same date - 10 September 1967. Stuart Mackay Collection.
