Bristol unit B811 arrives at Kemble heading for Swindon in July 1981. At this date this unit was formed 51801 + 59548 + 51519. This unit was Bristol based between April 1979 and May 1982. Tony Walmsley.
Bristol unit B933, led by car 51505 calls at Yeovil Pen Mill heading for Weymouth. To the left is a northbound train formed of a class 108 dmu. Seen on a Network Day in the spring of 1988. 51505 was Bristol based three times, the last between September 1987 and April 1988. Tony Walmsley.

A hybrid dmu formation with a class 100 DMBS, M50343, at the rear leaves platform 1 at Birmingham New Street heading for Kidderminster. 50343 was based at Tyseley from May 1975 until withdrawal in September 1981 having previously been based in Scotland. This photo was probably taken around 1980. The two Class 101 cars in the formation are presumably M59124 + M50332. Tony Walmsley.

Peterborough platform 5 in summer 1987 finds a class 114 Derby Heavyweight set as originally delivered - 53015 and 54015. Remarkably although the vehicles were not always so paired throughout the years, they seemed to stay together for most of their lives, even into departmental use and later preservation. The Provincial liveried Stourton Saloon 975637 and 975664, ex-class 100 DMU set stabled in what was platform 2 at Lincoln Central with 37 106. This part of Lincoln station is now a car park but it looks like it was heading that way then! June 1987. Robert Chilton.

This was during a period when various units were drafted into Heaton depot to cover for problems with class 143 Pacers and in this case several sets have been split and recombined - 51059 from C591 at this end with 59471 (class 118) and 53909 (class 116) from set C316 at the other end. 30/Sep/1987.
