In the poor summer of 1981 a class 108 unit has come out of the sidings at Barmouth and arrived at the platform to form a train to Machynlleth. The signalling required the level crossing gates to be closed for this manouvre, which are now reopening. Tony Walmsley.

M50057 (TS501, presumably with 59001 + 50097) is working wrong line, it has just terminated with a working from Moor Street and is running back into a refuge siding so that a Stratford service can pass. Both the signal box and the running in board have gone but the rest of the station is still very GWR. The odd grey pipe out of the window of the box was for the signaller to water his flower beds from, the other distinct signal box feature is the white wall under the window next to the sink where hundreds of tea dregs have been thrown out and have run down the window ledge. 18th June 1979. A really horrible day at Chinley goods yard, this was a lunch stop and it was possible to sit, eat and watch trains. Winding the car window down enough to poke a camera through, a class 124 on the 09.48 Cleethorpes - Manchester was recorded in March 1982. Geoff Dowling.
