Two Trans-Pennine DMUs in Doncaster station at 7.30pm one evening, with a queue of people waiting to board the set in platform 4. There were no details with this transparency. The condition of the DMC on the left - with the missing white dots and the offset lamp bracket on the right - matches E51958 circa 1982. Class 101 DMSL 53324 on Cardiff Canton depot on 21 May 1989. It had been transferred there the week before from Chester and is presumably paired with 53317. Note the headlamp on the lamp bracket with a junction box below, the wiring then heading across the bottom of the cab, wrapped around the other lamp bracket, then disappearing under the vehicle. Withdrawn Class 126 DMSL SC51022 is boarded up and well stripped of parts. Withdrawn from Ayr depot in March 1982 where it spent its whole career it was scrapped at Snailwell in November of that year. This was possibly taken at Falkland Yard, Ayr, before the move south. Stuart Mackay Collection.
On board the diesel instruction train in 1961. This was probably DM395227 - Model Car 5A - at Marylebone Goods Yard in May 1961 at an exhibition held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Institute of Locomotive Engineers. On the right is a full DMU drive train starting with an engine crankshaft, a fluid flywheel split in two to show the glands inside, a freewheel, a sectioned gearbox which the instructor is pointing at, a cardan shaft (with some gearbox brake bands to the side) and a final drive.
