A comment added to the image on flickr by Merfyn Jones notes that it was taken from the top deck of a bus. The crossing had been replaced by a flyover in 1969. The pub was the Maelgwyn which was demolished to make way for a temporary crossing while the flyover was built along the line of the existing road.
