Withdrawn Class 126 units at Millerhill in April 1973 (SC79109 closest). Most of the withdrawn E&G Swindons, which is what we knew them as, ended up stored at Millerhill Yard before being taken south for Scrap. They then hung around in East Anglia for a quite a while as we kept stumbling across them when we were on trips at such unlikely places as Ely and Mistley awaiting devouring by Kings scrapyards in Norwich and Snailwell. Some also went to Swindon for cutting up and sat alongside the Westerns waiting their turn to go. Alistair Ness.

Stored in Ely Goods Yard, Cambridgeshire on the 24th June 1978 CL126 DMBS SC79157 had already been out of service for nearly 6 years. Some stripping of the vehicle had been undertaken but the presence of Asbestos Insulation has so far left it fairly intact. Operational from February 1957 until October 1972 she had called Leith Central MPD in Edinburgh home for all her service life as can be seen by the 64H shed code still clearly stencilled on her drivers side sole bar. Eventually towed to Mayer Newmans Yard at Snailwell she had been scrapped by June 1983. Bob Woolnough.
