3.  Proposed use of 238 H.P. Rolls Royce engines

The Chairman stated that Messrs. Harrison and Harris have jointly reported on this question. Additional information has been sent to the B.T.C. Technical Officers, and a further meeting has been arranged for Wednesday, March 12th. (see also Minute 564.1)

4.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by contractors

Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix 'B'.

5.  Dieselisation Costings - Half yearly costs of operation

Noted that this question is still under consideration by the Railway Accountants Committee and has also been referred to the Operating Committee.

6.  Coding of types of multiple unit diesel vehicles

Reference was made to the suggested new code and Mr Gould said he did not consider this adequately covers the requirements, particularly having regard to the differing sizes of brake vans. Noted that matter still under consideration by Operating Officer.

7.  Conveyance of parcels traffic

Following is present position in respect of requirements of diesel parcels vans :-

(a) West Cumberland Scheme - Delivery of three parcels vans expected in April, 1958.

(b) Manchester Part 2 Scheme - Two vans requested for inclusion in 1959 building programme.

(b) St.Pancras Scheme - Two vans to be included in scheme when submitted.

8.  Design of standard units of 57' stock

(a) Coupling together of units - Noted that matter still under consideration by B.T.C. Eastern Region have also recently advised B.T.C. of their difficulties owing to inability to couple different types of vehicles together.

Mr. Finlayson reported it has now been established that Rolls Royce 238 H.P. vehicles can be coupled to B.U.T. 150 H.P. vehicles.
